Hanalei Bay Resort overlooks Hanalei Bay from a tropical, lush 28 acres in Princeville. Beautiful ocean and Bali Hai views are everywhere on this property. Beach access is provided down a long, fair grade, paved path, and the resort staff offer convenient golf cart rides to the beach below.

This lovely condo is quiet and comfortable, with beautiful garden and mountain views. The kitchen provides all you need to prepare your island meals and the vaulted open beam ceilings give the open and airy feel. The Murphy bed can be put up to give a spacious living area during the day and then sleeping quarters for the night. The in unit washer and dryer rounds out this perfect place to stay. The resort offers an array of amenities sure to make your vacation special such as 2 swimming pools, multiple tennis courts, a hot tub, direct beach access, BBQ areas, and a fire pit seating area great for watching the amazing Kauai sunsets!

  As a local resident, I recently stayed at 1558. The resort itself has a gorgeous location , but my experience with the actual room and property management on VRBO was far from pleasant. I had high hopes, but unfortunately, the room I picked was a disappointment. The troubles started with the TV not working on the first day, followed by a persistent musty and moldy smell that was falsely claimed to have been removed. The pungent odor lingered throughout my stay, making it unbearable. To make matters worse, there was a power outage on the first evening and the bed that folds down is also semi broken, with miscellaneous lamps missing light switches as well.
  
  Being a local resident, I had to stay at this property because my home was being tented for termites. After enduring the strong smell for three days, I reached out to the property manager for some form of compensation. To my dismay, the manager's response was inadequate. Instead of offering a suitable solution, I was told I could check out and be refunded. However, that was not a viable option for me. The only compensation provided was a meager $50 check, which was a TINY fraction of what I had paid for the week-long stay.
  
  Normally I would never ever complain like this but considering the unpleasant conditions and lack of proper compensation, I strongly advise against choosing this property for your stay. Just hoping they’ll return my deposit back in a timely fashion.

  The studio was well appointed and in a nice location, close to the parking lot, restaurants, main pool, and tennis courts. It was a little small when the murphy bed was pulled down, but otherwise fine for two people.

  We've been coming to HBR for 10 years and usually stay in 1558. It's the perfect set up and we love the jungle view. We only had a few complaints this year and that was the moldy smell throughout the unit and a leaky roof which they were aware of before our visit. They did bring a spare bed to the room so we could move it away from the dripping area but that meant it was always in the middle of the floor. Usually it's a wall bed that tucks away nicely. The resort itself keeps raising its fees and added a 50.00 check in fee which isn't fun. Also the hot tub was closed a few of the days and often wasn't heated up by 9am like it should have been.

  This is the most budget-friendly option at Hanalei Bay Resort. The best part about this cozy place is the view from the back patio looking over the forest and mountains. Close to the restaurant and pool, full kitchen, and washer and dryer are nice additions. We wished the restaurant/bar would stay open later, and the fact that the pool/hot tub closes at 9:00 pm every night is a huge disappointment. Definitely not a resort for night owls!

  We loved our stay in the Condo! It was perfect! We were surprised that it was at a resort though since that was not completely clear in the description. The only negative about that was the extra $155 dollars in fees that was unexpected. It would have been nice if that was more transparent. Other than that we loved our stay and hope we can come to 1558 at the Hanalei Bay Resort again.

  We recently stayed in unit 1558 for 3 days and had a wonderful experience. Unit is close to parking, the main pool and fitness center. We found the condo to be clean and well furnished. The murphy bed was very comfortable and since it was just the 2 of us, we left it open the entire time and had plenty of space. It was nice to have beach items to use during our stay as well as a washer and dryer. Loved our stay and am considering booking in the future.

  Booking and check-in was very easy and property is in a great location to explore the North shore. This was a rebooking and use of credit from 2020 since the property did not provide any sort of refund amidst covid which was disappointing at the time and we are glad we finally got to use it without losing our money. Unit itself is well stocked, however there are a couple of things that could use updating. Getting into the unit was a challenge as the door handle was jiggling and not lined up quite right so it took many tries and sometimes up to 10 minutes to unlock. Also, on very heavy rainfall days there is a leak in the ceiling, directly above the bed. Our first night there we had leaking and our contact was great and very responsive, however this had happened before and the resort maintenance simply taped the ceiling which only worked for so long so we ended up having to take the mattress off the Murphy bed frame and sleep on the floor to avoid the leak on two separate occasions in our 9 night stay.
  
  Overall though, great location and we loved our stay on the North shore. Kitchen supplies and toiletries are supplied which makes this an easy and comfortable stay in a nice resort. Groceries are a short drive and lots of restaurants / food trucks within 10 minute drive so it’s easy to eat out or bring food back to eat on the patio since things close early in Kauai.

  My husband and I look forward to our visit every year. This unit has a great view of the trees. My only complaint in the very loud telephone ringing off in the distance. That was new for us this year.Besides that we love this unit and its location.
