Two bedrooms upstairs with a king and a queen bed, both with their own bathroom, plus loft on the third floor, with a queen bed and a trundle bed ( 2 singles), ample lanai space, washer and dryer in unit, large kitchen, sits on the island's southernmost point, with great complex amenities. Walking distance to two of Kauai's south shore pristine beaches Poipu Beach and Shipwrecks.

Perfect family getaway! The living and dining areas are spacious and breezy on the main floor, so your whole family will feel comfortable. Generous kitchen for cooking fabulous meals, and the lanai looks out over the ocean with a great view of remarkable sunsets every night. Please note this unit is on the third level and there is not an elevator.

  My family of 5, with three teenage boys, were very comfortable and very happy with this place! The beds were very comfortable (though not the day bed in loft area). We were in a mini heat wave in October and the air conditioning worked great. Had a personal issue after checkout and the contact person was very patient and responsive.

  We are a family of 5 and stayed 3 nights. The rental was excellent for our visit. There was more than enough room and lots of extras from beach gear to the outdoor grill that we used. Not many rentals have AC on the island so that was a big plus as well!!

  We had a wonderful time here as two families on vacation to Kauai for the first time. This condo had space for 8, with our 4 kids fitting well in the loft/3rd bedroom. We were able to cook almost all our meals, and the kitchen amenities were great. We loved the beach chairs, boogie boards and cooler; easy use and it was nice to have them. The company was easy to chat with and very responsive and helpful; getting into the rental and the extra keys were helpful as well.

  The condo & the kitchen/Dining room fit 8 people comfortably. The construction they warned us about was minimal. Nice location! All-in-all, We enjoyed the condo comfortably. The shower heads work but were old & spray oddly is all we noted to the mgmt co. that should be replaced.

  This property was very nice and was exactly what we were expecting. There was plenty of space and the amenities were also good. While we were there the island had some pretty severe wind and it did make the screens rattle (and come off in one case). We did have to vacuum and clean the floors more than I would have expected for our check in but it was not a huge issue for us.

  We had a great vacation here with our family of 5 adults and 2 kids. The condo is located close to Poipu Beach where we did a bit of turtle watching with our snorkeling as well as watching the New Year’s fireworks. Heritage trail connects right outside for great morning walks or a place to see sunrise and sunsets. A lot of beach gear is in the laundry room including a cooler and sun umbrellas. The dishwasher and oven have their own mysteries but we got used to them. A not fancy but very adequate place to stay.

  My wife and another couple went to Kauai recently, which led to us spending a few nights at this gem of a location and property. The beach chairs, umbrella, and all that is so helpful for saving time in the morning before heading to the Ocean. The hot tub + views from the edge of the property are stunning, would definitely recommend and plan to come back!

  Great place- we plan to stay at the Makahuena property again! Great pool and grassy areas outside for kids. The only downfall were some grumpy neighbors who live there permanently and made some comments about us having little kids with us.

  Makahuena is in an awesome location. We got some whale action on the first morning. That was fortunate, the only morning we saw them at the condo. The kitchen is the best. Freezer issues are likely resolved. It would barely open.The grounds and amenities are fabulous.
  A peculiarity is: condo sleeps 8, aside from a bus, the biggest car rental seats 7. We had 8, so a second car, but parking enforcement forbade us to park on property. Something to consider.
  All in all, we had a fabulous time!

  The condo was nice. The pool is barely out of site so I could hear my older kids down there swimming which was nice. Easy to check out and in. Plenty of towels and things. There are beach chairs, beach towels, toys and tennis gear so don’t rent extra with a car or anything. There was also a cooler. No air conditioning and we stayed in December. It was humid but manageable. Lots of fans in the house to circulate air. 8 of us slept comfortable. 4 adults and 4 kids.

  Great location in Kauai near all the amenities of Poipu with a reasonable price. NO AC. With the ocean breeze it was good at night and we were out and about for the majority of the day, but if you are looking for that something to keep in mind. It is beachy but definitely think the unit could have used a deep cleaning and just overall inspection of functional items. Example: leaky dishwasher, one side of the patio door comes off track, sticky freezer door. Beds are comfy and lots of linen, towels available.

  We enjoyed our week at this condo. It had so much room for our family. 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a very spacious kitchen and family room area. The unit had everything we needed to cooking meals. There were plenty of beach toys and a cooler.
  Please the staff was amazingly helpful. We had a situation where we needed to have a replacement pair of glasses shipped from the mainland and the staff had us ship them to their office and were very helpful.
  Great experience overall!
